I will admit that all of my power tools are DeWalt. I'm just a DeWalt kind of guy and buying a single brand means I can use a common set of batteries, chargers and attachments, blades, etc.....which is convenient.I wish I had the money to have two of everything....one with batteries and one with a power cord. I always have to agonize, when contemplating a new DeWalt tool, whether to go AC power or DC Battery. For years, my drill motor and impact wrench set were the only batter powered DeWalt tools I owned. But I branched out with this reciprocating saw and I have not bee disappointed. It is not the biggest or most powerful reciprocating saw out there.....but it is more than adequate for virtually all Harry Homeowner projects or even small contractor use. It is a versatile little rascal and, having only had big, monster saws before this one, I find it a joy not to have to figure out how I'm going to get the saw into the working space. It also seems to be pretty miserly on power usage and doesn't go through even my smaller 20 volt batteries very quickly. This allows me to put the smaller, lower rated batteries in it and get into some smaller spaces that I wouldn't be able to negotiate with the much larger, higher rated batteries.DeWalt, for me, has always been the best mix I could find between reliability and cost. I cried when they went from the old 18 to 20 volt system as I had virtually ever 18 volt tool they made plus a dozen chargers and over 20 batteries. But, once DeWalt quit supporting their 18 volt system, I have slowly replaced most of the old 18 volt tools with 20 volt tools or switched them over to AC driven power cord tools. My fear is that, once I accumulated a huge selection of 20 volt tools and batteries that they will come up with a 22 or 24 volt system and I will have to start all over again. But this particular saw is well made, sturdy and extremely versatile. I have absolutely no complaints about it....it is as good a tool as DeWalt makes.
